Spain Closes Pegasus Spyware Probe

Spain's High Court has closed an investigation into the use of a spyware called Pegasus.

This spyware was used to spy on Spanish politicians, including the Prime Minister.

The investigation was closed because Israel, where the company that makes the spyware is based, did not help with the investigation.

The company, NSO Group, says their software is meant to fight crime and protect national security, but they can't control how it is used.

The investigation was first closed in 2023 and reopened in 2024 after France provided more information about its own investigation into Pegasus.
