X Launches XChat, Encrypted Messaging Service
X, the company formerly known as Twitter, now has a new messaging service called XChat.
It's like WhatsApp, but it's built into X. XChat lets you send messages that disappear, share files, and make calls using special, secure "Bitcoin-style" encryption to keep your chats private.
Since it's part of X, you use your X account.
It is now in beta testing, hoping to compete with WhatsApp by offering similar features but integrating them into the existing X platform.
Currently X has announced this as part of its move to become a super app.
X (formerly Twitter) launched XChat, an instant messaging service with end-to-end encryption.
XChat includes features such as vanishing messages, file sharing, and voice/video calls.
The platform uses "Bitcoin-style encryption" and is built on a new architecture using the Rust programming language.
XChat is integrated within the X platform, using X accounts for user identification.
XChat is currently in beta testing and is expected to compete directly with WhatsApp.
