Israeli Strike Kills Senior Hamas Commander in Northern Gaza

An Israeli airstrike killed Izz al-Din Al-Beik, a senior Hamas commander in northern Gaza.

The attack happened around dawn in an apartment building in Gaza City.

Hamas confirmed that Beik had died.

Israel said Beik helped plan attacks and recruit fighters.

Israel says Hamas has been rebuilding weapons and attacking despite a ceasefire.

Hamas denies those accusations and says Israel is breaking the Gaza agreement.

The ceasefire was meant to help lead to reconstruction and further negotiations.

However, the two sides have not agreed on Hamas disarming or Israel withdrawing its troops.

Gaza health officials say at least 1,400 Palestinians have died since the ceasefire began, while Israel says four soldiers have been killed.
