Exotic Wildlife and Rs 1 Crore Ganja Seized at Bengaluru Airport
Airport security in Bengaluru caught two people bringing exotic animals like a gibbon, a monkey, and a hornbill into the country from Bangkok without permission.
They were arrested for breaking wildlife protection laws.
On the same day, airport officials also stopped another person coming from Bangkok and found a large amount of special plants, known as hydroponic ganja, worth over a crore of rupees.
This person was also arrested for breaking drug laws.
Both groups of people were stopped because bringing these items into India is against the law.
Customs officials at Bengaluru Airport intercepted two passengers arriving from Bangkok and seized exotic wildlife species, including a white-Cheeked Gibbon, a monkey, and a hornbill.
The two passengers were arrested under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
On the same day, customs officials also seized 2.990 kg of Hydroponic Ganja valued at Rs 1.04 crore from a passenger arriving from Bangkok.
The passenger caught with ganja was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
Both incidents occurred at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru.
