Democrats Need Four Senate Flips to Reclaim Majority

Democrats Need Four Senate Flips to Reclaim Majority

Republicans currently control more seats in the Senate than Democrats.

Democrats have 47 senators when two independent senators who caucus with them are included.

They need to reach 51 seats to control the chamber.

This means they must win four Republican-held seats if they lose none of their own.

Iowa and Texas are now considered especially competitive races.

Ohio, Alaska and North Carolina could provide additional opportunities.

Democrats also need to protect their seats in places such as Georgia and Michigan.

The election will decide whether Democrats can turn their possible four-seat gain into a majority.
