Mumbai BMC Penalises 1,336 Waste Violations in September

Mumbai’s civic authority fined people and organizations for breaking waste and cleanliness rules.

It recorded 1,336 violations during the first 28 days of September.

The fines added up to Rs 18.70 lakh.

The most common problem was failing to keep buildings and nearby areas clean.

Throwing rubbish in public places was another major problem.

Some people also handled construction waste illegally or handed over waste without sorting it.

Officials will use a mobile app, cameras and portable printers to record violations and give receipts.

The BMC says the goal is to improve cleanliness, not just collect money.
