India-Pakistan Block News Outlets Amid Tensions
India and Pakistan have blocked each other's news websites and YouTube channels.
India blocked 12 Pakistani websites and 16 YouTube channels, while Pakistan blocked 40 Indian websites and 16 YouTube channels.
This happened after a terror attack in Pahalgam in April 2025.
The Editors Guild of India said this is not good because it stops people from getting different news and understanding each other better.
They want both countries to stop blocking these websites so people can share news freely.
The Guild also said that even if some news is not good, blocking everything is not the right solution.
They believe that free access to news helps people understand each other and makes peace more likely.
India and Pakistan blocked each other's news outlets and YouTube channels in 2025 following tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack.
India blocked 12 Pakistani news websites and 16 YouTube channels, citing the spread of misleading content related to the Indian Army and Kashmir.
Pakistan responded by blocking at least 40 Indian news websites and 16 YouTube channels.
The Editors Guild of India expressed concern, stating that such bans undermine the spirit of democracy and freedom of expression.
The Guild acknowledged instances of unethical journalism but argued that blanket bans are not the solution and urged both governments to lift the restrictions.
