Supreme Court Orders Preservation of RAF Ammunition Log
The Supreme Court of India said the government must keep a record of the bullets used by a special police unit during a student protest.
Some people, including a former police officer and two injured protestors, asked the court to stop using these metal bullets because they can hurt people badly.
The court said it would look into how the bullets were used and also asked the Delhi government to give good medical care to those hurt.
The protest happened in Delhi on July 20, 2024, and the court is trying to make sure everything is fair and safe.
Supreme Court directed Centre to preserve Rapid Action Force ammunition log from Jantar Mantar during July 20 NEET protest.
Petitioners, including former IPS officer Yashovardhan Azad and two injury victims, seek nationwide ban on metallic pellet guns.
Court questioned the plea for a complete ban, noting police are empowered to use pellet guns in exceptional situations.
Court also asked Delhi government to provide best treatment for those injured, including Prashant Kumar and Sheikh Irshad Mansoori.
Petition demands exemplary compensation, medical treatment, and rehabilitation for all injured.
