Centre Approves Rs 60.76 Crore for Andhra Sports Projects
The central government has given Rs.
60.76 crore to Andhra Pradesh to build and improve sports facilities in different cities.
The main stadium in Vijayawada will get a new running track, football field, tennis courts, and better lighting.
Other cities like Chittoor, Srikakulam, and Rajamahendravaram will also get new indoor sports halls.
There's also money for a new sports complex in Guntur, but the state government needs to send more details to get final approval.
These projects aim to make sports better for young people and help Andhra Pradesh become a big sports hub.
Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports approved Rs. 60.76 crore for eight sports infrastructure projects in Andhra Pradesh under the Khelo India Scheme.
Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in Vijayawada will receive significant upgrades, including a new 400-metre synthetic athletic track and an artificial grass football field.
Other projects include multi-purpose indoor blocks in Kuppam (Chittoor) and Pathrunivalasa (Srikakulam), and a multi-purpose indoor stadium in Rajamahendravaram.
An in-principle approval of Rs. 14 crore has been granted for a Multi-Sports Complex at Brahmananda Reddy Stadium in Guntur, pending a detailed proposal from the state government.
The state government and SAAP have been instructed to complete formal acceptance and tendering processes within three months to avoid project cancellation.
