Andhra Pradesh to Introduce Cocoa Policy for Farmers
The Andhra Pradesh government is creating a new plan, called the Cocoa Policy, to help cocoa farmers get more money.
They want companies to buy cocoa at good prices and are helping farmers sell their crops.
Right now, farmers get a price for cocoa, with the government helping out with some extra money.
The government is also working on plans for other crops like tobacco and mangoes, making sure farmers can sell them and get paid fairly.
Andhra Pradesh will introduce a Cocoa Policy to ensure better returns for farmers.
The government is encouraging Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and MSMEs to establish processing units.
465 metric tonnes of cocoa have been procured, with 745 metric tonnes remaining with farmers.
A minimum remunerative price of ₹500 per kg is fixed for cocoa, with government subsidy.
Government is also addressing issues with tobacco and mango procurement.
