Rajasthan High Court Eases Parole Terms for Poor Prisoner

Rajasthan High Court Eases Parole Terms for Poor Prisoner

Munia was already approved for parole, which is temporary release from prison.

He was supposed to provide two people to guarantee Rs 50,000 each.

He said he was too poor to find those guarantees.

The Rajasthan High Court said parole conditions should match a prisoner’s ability to pay.

The court therefore allowed him to leave using only a personal promise to pay Rs 1 lakh if he broke the conditions.

He must also provide identity documents.

He can remain out for 30 days from his release.

The court’s earlier guidelines let authorities waive sureties for prisoners who cannot afford them.
