US Postpones Trade Talks, Plans Tariffs on Indian Goods
The US and India are having some disagreements about trade.
The US wants to charge more money for some things India sells to them, which might make it harder for India to sell those things.
Because of this, a meeting between them is probably being postponed.
They also don't agree on what products India should allow the US to sell.
Investors are also taking money out of Indian markets.
Even with these disagreements, both countries still want to trade a lot more with each other in the future, hoping to have a larger trade volume.
US is likely to delay trade talks with India scheduled for August 25.
US plans to impose an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods.
FPIs withdrew over Rs 21,000 crore from Indian equities in the first half of August.
The US wants greater market access in agri and dairy sectors.
Both countries aim for $500B in trade by 2030, currently at $191B.
