Dr Bhandari Performs 51 Robotic Surgeries in 14-Hour Marathon
A doctor named Mohit Bhandari did something amazing in Indore, India.
He performed 51 surgeries in just 14 hours, all in one day.
These surgeries help people who weigh a lot; they are called bariatric surgeries.
He used special robots to help him perform the surgeries very carefully.
Six robot machines worked at the same time.
The patients were 30 men and 21 women, and most were around 43 years old.
Their average weight was about 122 kilograms.
Many doctors, nurses, and technicians worked together to help.
The event was called Surgical Swaraj, and it showed how technology can help doctors.
Dr Bhandari has done more than 40,000 of these surgeries in his career.
Dr Mohit Bhandari performed 51 robotic bariatric surgeries over 14 hours on Aug 15 in Indore under the 'Surgical Swaraj' initiative.
Six robotic surgical systems were used together for the procedures, and a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, anaesthesiologists, nursing professionals, technicians and support staff supported the effort.
The 51 patients included 30 men and 21 women, with an average age of 43.6 years (range 21-77) and an average weight of around 122 kg.
The initiative coincided with India's 80th Independence Day and aimed to showcase the country's growing capabilities in advanced robotic and minimally invasive healthcare.
Bhandari has performed more than 40,000 bariatric surgeries, and his institution Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics is recognized by the World Book of Records for the highest number of bariatric surgeries in the Asia-Pacific region.
