Transport Dept Launches Strict Measures to Curb Road Accidents
Imagine the Telangana transport police are becoming super-detectives for roads!
They've created special teams to catch drivers who break the rules.
These teams will surprise drivers to check if their vehicles are safe, not too dusty, and not carrying too much stuff.
If drivers are caught breaking rules, like overloading trucks or buses, or if their vehicles are old and unsafe, they will get fined or their vehicles might even be taken away.
The police want to make sure everyone drives safely, especially during foggy weather.
They are also planning fun events for kids to learn about road safety, like drawing contests and special parks.
Transport department has formed 33 district-level teams and 3 state-level flying squads for surprise checks on traffic violators.
Enforcement will focus on vehicle fitness, pollution compliance, and issues like overloading, with potential seizure and fines.
Special attention will be given to contract carriage buses, requiring safety features like fire extinguishers and removal of obstructions at emergency exits.
Campaigns for Road Safety Month will include student competitions and the establishment of Children's Awareness Parks.
In the past week, over 2,576 vehicles were booked, including 352 lorries and 43 buses for overloading.
