Rapido Secures Five-Year Karnataka Cab Licence Until August 2031
Rapido is a company that makes an app for booking bike and cab rides.
The Karnataka government has given Rapido a special licence to run its cab services for five years.
The licence is valid until August 2031.
It was given by the Karnataka State Transport Authority.
The licence follows special rules made in 2016 for technology-based transport companies.
Rapido already works in 21 cities in Karnataka, including Bengaluru and Mysuru.
More than 3.14 lakh drivers, called captains, and more than 2.04 crore registered customers use the platform.
Over 69 lakh customers have used Rapido's cab services in the state.
Rapido will also join Karnataka's Urban Mobility Mission to help make travel safer, more reliable and easier to access.
Co-founder Pavan Guntupalli said Karnataka is Rapido's home state and one of its most important markets.
