Asian-American Voters Emerge as Pivotal Swing Bloc in Texas Elections

Asian-American Voters Emerge as Pivotal Swing Bloc in Texas Elections

Asian-American voters could be very important in Texas elections.

A poll says Democrat James Talarico is ahead of Republican Ken Paxton among these voters by 15 points.

However, many Asian Texans do not know much about Talarico yet.

This means candidates still need to introduce themselves and explain their ideas.

Asian-American communities in Texas include Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Filipino and Pakistani people.

These communities may care about different issues, such as schools, healthcare, immigration, safety and small businesses.

The AAPI Victory Fund says campaigns should speak with voters in their homes, temples and languages.

A lead in a poll does not guarantee that people will vote.

Campaigns must also help eligible voters understand how and when to cast ballots.
