Kolkata Heritage Home Celebrates Pankaj Mullick During Durga Puja
Pankaj Kumar Mullick was a famous musician whose songs are closely linked with Mahalaya and Durga Puja for many Bengalis.
A cultural centre and café called Legend and Legacy has opened in part of his old home in Kolkata.
His grandson and granddaughter-in-law created it to help people remember his work.
The centre displays instruments, photographs, recordings and other items connected to his life.
Visitors can also listen to his music there.
The building has old-fashioned Art Deco design.
There is also a café with food, coffee and mocktails.
Some dishes are said to have been favourites of Mullick.
The centre hopes both longtime fans and younger visitors will enjoy discovering his music.
Legend and Legacy, a cultural centre and café in Kolkata, occupies part of Pankaj Kumar Mullick’s former home.
His grandson Rajib Gupta and granddaughter-in-law Jhinuk Gupta launched the initiative to preserve his legacy and introduce it to younger generations.
The exhibition includes Mullick’s organ and tanpura, record covers, recordings, film booklets, photographs, writings and a postal stamp issued in his honour.
Visitors can listen to his songs and view displays of his awards inside the heritage building, which features Art Deco architecture.
The café’s first Durga Puja-season menu includes dishes described as Mullick’s favourites, Chinese and Continental food, coffees, mocktails and combo meals.
