Two cops dismissed in Pune Porsche crash case
Two police officers in Pune, India, were dismissed from their jobs because they did not do their duties properly when responding to a serious car crash.
The crash happened on May 19, 2023, and involved a speeding Porsche driven by a 17-year-old boy who was allegedly drunk.
The car hit a motorcycle, killing two young men named Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta.
The officers were blamed for not investigating the crash properly and not telling their superiors about it quickly enough.
The boy who drove the car was not tried as an adult because the court decided that his actions, although serious, did not qualify as a 'heinous' offense under the law.
The case also involved other people, including the boy's parents and some doctors, who were accused of trying to cover up the crime by swapping blood samples.
Two police officers were dismissed for dereliction of duty in the initial response to the Porsche crash that killed two IT engineers in Pune.
The officers were charged with lapses in the initial investigation and failing to inform the wireless control room about the incident in time.
