CBSE Sets New Limits for Class Sizes in Schools
CBSE, the board that runs many schools, has new rules about how many kids can be in a class.
Normally, there should be no more than 40 students in each class.
But, in certain situations, like when a parent moves for a job or a student is sick and needs to repeat a year, schools can have up to 45 students.
Schools have to make sure they have big enough classrooms, at least 500 square feet, and enough space for each student.
The schools must also keep track of why they are letting more students in.
CBSE has reiterated guidelines for schools regarding student count in each section from class 1-12.
Each section should ideally have 40 students, with exceptions allowing up to 45 under specific conditions.
Exceptions include admissions for parent transfers, repeating students, and those with serious illnesses.
Schools must document reasons for exceeding 40 students on CBSE portals and in admission registers.
Classroom size must be at least 500 square feet with a minimum of 1 square meter per student.
