Air India Focuses on In-House Training
Air India has a new training academy that many airlines, both Indian and foreign, want to use.
However, Air India is focusing on using the academy for its own pilots, cabin crew, and other staff first.
The academy has special simulators and training programs to prepare for the many new planes Air India will get in the future.
The training is cheaper than in other countries and includes everything from flying lessons to how to handle emergencies.
Air India plans to train thousands of new pilots and staff over the next decade.
They are also setting up more simulators for different types of planes.
Right now, they train over 2,000 people every day.
Several Indian and foreign airlines have shown interest in using Air India's new training academy.
Air India is currently focusing on internal training requirements before exploring external partnerships.
The academy offers various courses, including pilot training, cabin crew training, and management programs.
Air India plans to expand its fleet and network from 2027 onwards, with deliveries of 570 aircraft expected to pick up pace.
The academy has two operational simulators for A320 aircraft and plans to have a total of 21 simulator bays, including those for A350 and Boeing aircraft.
