Former Travancore Devaswom Board President N. Vasu Arrested in Sabarimala Gold Theft Case
A special police team in India is investigating a case where gold is missing from a famous temple called Sabarimala.
They recently arrested a former leader of the temple's governing board, named N. Vasu.
He is accused of being involved in the disappearance of gold that was part of the temple's decorations.
Vasu used to be the president of the board and had other important roles before that.
He has been taken to court and sent to jail for a while.
Other people, including the main suspect and some other officials, have already been arrested in this case.
Political parties have different views on this arrest.
The opposition parties believe that higher-ranking officials, including ministers, might also be involved.
The ruling party says they want everyone involved to face the law and that their government is taking action against those responsible.
Former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) President N. Vasu has been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Sabarimala gold theft case.
Vasu is an accused in the disappearance of gold from the gold-clad plates on the temple's door frames and guardian deity idols.
He was produced in a Pathanamthitta court and remanded to 14 days judicial custody, subsequently taken to Kottarakkara Sub Jail.
The SIT has already arrested the prime accused, Unnikrishnan Potty, along with other senior and retired officials.
Opposition parties allege involvement of ruling party leadership, while the ruling CPI(M) states that action will be taken against all involved, regardless of position.
