PCMC Awaits Defence Nod for Red Zone Map
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has a special map called the red zone map that shows areas where construction is not allowed near important defence places like the Dehu Road ammunition factory and the Dighi magazine depot.
The PCMC asked the Land Records Department to make this map more accurate using satellite pictures.
It took a long time, but the map was finally ready in July 2025.
However, the PCMC is still waiting for permission from the Defence Department to share this map with everyone.
Until then, people living in these areas are confused about where they can or cannot build their homes.
The PCMC paid a lot of money for this map and hopes to publish it soon after getting the necessary approval.
PCMC recalculated the red zone boundaries in Dehu Road and Dighi areas using satellite imagery.
The accurate map was received in July 2025 but is awaiting Defence Department approval for publication.
The red zone is within 2000 meters of the Dehu Road ammunition factory and 1145 meters of the Dighi magazine depot.
The map preparation took 1.5 years due to errors in the initial map and required corrections.
Residents in affected areas are in limbo, awaiting the official map to clarify construction restrictions.
