CCI Warns of AI Competition Challenges
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Nasscom held a workshop to talk about how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing markets and competition.
They said AI is growing very fast and is causing new problems like big companies controlling the market and making it hard for smaller companies to compete.
The CCI is setting up special teams to understand these issues better and make sure that markets stay fair and open for everyone.
They also talked about how AI can help businesses but need to be regulated so that it doesn't hurt consumers or stifle innovation.
The workshop was part of a bigger event called the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, which aims to create rules for AI that are fair and good for everyone.
CCI and Nasscom held a workshop on AI's impact on competition and governance as part of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026.
AI is rapidly reshaping market structures, prompting the need for closer regulatory coordination.
CCI is concerned about market concentration, entry barriers, and other competition issues arising from AI adoption.
The commission has set up a dedicated digital markets division to focus on technology-led sectors, including AI.
The workshop emphasized the importance of collaborative, risk-based, and proportionate regulatory approaches to ensure AI-driven innovation advances in a manner consistent with competition principles, consumer welfare, and public interest.
