Japan Lifts Tsunami Advisory After Magnitude 6.9 Quake Off Iwate Coast
An earthquake with a strong magnitude of 6.9 happened off the coast of Japan on Sunday evening.
This caused officials to issue a warning for a possible tsunami.
Small waves, about as high as your hand, were seen in a few harbors.
Thankfully, no one was hurt and no buildings were damaged.
The warning was taken down after about three hours.
However, experts said that more shaking, called aftershocks, could happen for about a week.
Japan is located in an area where earthquakes are common.
This earthquake was not thought to be directly related to the big earthquake and tsunami from 2011.

A tsunami advisory was issued for the region but was lifted approximately three hours later.
Small tsunami waves, measuring 10-20 cm, were observed in several coastal ports.
No immediate reports of injuries or damage were reported, and regional nuclear power plants showed no irregularities.
The Japan Meteorological Agency warned of potential aftershocks for about a week following the main quake.
