PLI Scheme Generates 3.35 Lakh Jobs, Boosts Food Processing
The Indian government launched a program called the Production Linked Incentive Scheme to help food factories grow.
It has already brought in about 9,207 crore rupees of new money and created 3.35 lakh jobs, more than the 2.5 lakh it aimed for.
Sales of food products made under the program have jumped from about 58,758 crore rupees in 2019-20 to 1,08,854 crore rupees in 2025-26.
The scheme gives money to companies that increase their sales and also helps them advertise their food abroad.
It also has a special part for small and medium businesses and a separate program for tiny food makers to get support and grow.
PLI scheme attracted Rs 9,207 crore investment and created 3.35 lakh jobs, surpassing the 2.5 lakh target.
Sales of PLI‑supported products rose from Rs 58,758 crore (FY19‑20) to Rs 1,08,854 crore (FY25‑26).
163 applications from 127 companies, including 69 MSMEs, were approved across 212 sites in 22 states.
Incentives of Rs 3,271.44 crore were disbursed up to June 2026, expanding capacity to 34 lakh metric tons per annum.
