Russia Intensifies Ukraine Drone Campaign With 800 Jet-Powered Drones
Russia has been sending many drones toward Ukraine in a short period.
About 800 of the roughly 1,500 drones launched over four days had jet engines.
These new drones fly much faster than older versions.
That makes them harder for Ukraine’s inexpensive interceptor drones to stop.
Kyiv has been experiencing repeated daytime air-raid warnings.
The warnings can interrupt businesses and make rescue work more dangerous.
One drone attack near Kyiv reportedly killed 38 people and damaged buildings.
Ukraine is working on faster drones to defend against the new Russian weapons.
Russia launched about 1,500 drones against Ukraine in four days, including roughly 800 jet-powered models.
The faster drones can reach about 200 to 250 mph, making them harder for low-cost Ukrainian interceptors to destroy.
A Geran-4 strike on an ammunition site near Kyiv reportedly killed 38 people and caused hours of secondary explosions.
Kyiv experienced eight daytime air-raid alerts by Monday lunchtime, disrupting businesses, residents and emergency operations.
Ukraine is developing faster interceptor drones, while President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says jet-powered drones now exceed half of Russia’s unmanned aircraft.
