Banana Prices Rise in Rayalaseema
Banana prices in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh have gone up again.
Earlier, the prices had dropped a lot because there wasn't much demand from the northern states.
This made many farmers sad and some even stopped taking care of their banana trees.
But now, traders from the north are buying bananas again, so the prices are going up.
The government helped by talking to these traders.
Bananas are grown on a lot of land in Andhra Pradesh, and most of them are eaten within the state.
The government wants to send some bananas to other places, but there were too many bananas in the north, so not many were being bought.
Now, things are getting better, and more bananas are being sold.
Banana prices in Rayalaseema have increased to Rs 16,000 - Rs 17,000 per tonne for high-quality bananas and Rs 10,000 per tonne for low-quality bananas.
Prices had previously dropped to as low as Rs 2 per kg for low-quality bananas due to poor demand in northern markets.
Traders from northern India have resumed purchasing bananas from Rayalaseema after discussions with Andhra Pradesh's marketing department officials.
Banana cultivation in Andhra Pradesh covers over 3 lakh acres with an estimated total production of 87 lakh tonnes, mostly from the Rayalaseema region.
The Andhra Pradesh government aims to export 2 lakh tonnes of bananas, but excess supply in northern India had previously reduced demand.
