Bengaluru School to Hoist Flag Made from Recycled Bottles
A school in Bengaluru is making a special national flag to celebrate Independence Day.
The flag is made from old plastic bottles that have been recycled.
This idea came from seeing similar flags used during a big cricket tournament.
The school worked with a company to change the plastic into fabric.
They collected more plastic bottles than they needed!
The school wants to show everyone that we can reuse things we throw away.
They are also planning to make t-shirts from the extra bottles.
The Green School in Bengaluru will hoist a national flag made from recycled PET bottles on August 15th.
The initiative was inspired by the use of similar flags during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
The school partnered with a recycling company to convert discarded plastic into polyester fabric for the flag.
They collected 35,000 PET bottles, exceeding their initial target of 22,800.
The school plans to make T-shirts from the remaining PET bottles collected.
