India's Hospital Sector to Grow 12% in 5 Years
India's hospital sector is expected to grow by 12% over the next 3-5 years.
This growth is driven by a shortage of hospital beds, more people having health insurance, and more tourists coming to India for medical treatment.
Currently, India has only 16 hospital beds for every 10,000 people, which is much lower than the recommended 30 beds.
The number of people with health insurance has increased a lot, from 200 million in 2014 to 550 million in 2024.
Medical tourism is also a big part of this growth, with over 0.7 million people visiting India for healthcare in 2024.
The money made from each hospital bed has been growing at 8-9% each year, and the hospitals are usually about 63% full.
This growth is expected to continue as more hospitals are built in smaller cities and more people get health insurance.
India's hospital sector projected to grow at 12% over the next 3-5 years.
Current hospital beds per 10,000 people is 16, below WHO's recommended 30.
Insurance coverage has grown from 200 million in 2014 to 550 million in 2024.
Medical tourism is a key growth driver with 0.7 million tourists in 2024.
Average revenue per occupied bed (ARPOB) has grown at 8-9% CAGR over 5 years.
