Iran and US Trade Vessel Strikes Around Strait Hormuz

Iran and the United States say they have attacked vessels during rising tensions near the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s IRGC said it struck six vessels, including three oil tankers and three US-affiliated vessels.

The IRGC also said it attacked a US military unmanned boat trying to enter the strait.

Iran said these actions were responses to US attacks on three Iranian tankers.

The United States said those tankers supported a network that funds the IRGC and its regional partners.

The United States also said its forces struck the tankers after IRGC missiles were launched toward two US Navy ships.

Iran warned that more attacks or a naval blockade could lead to stronger action.

Donald Trump said the United States might attack a fortified site near Iran’s Natanz facility.

Both sides are making threats as they dispute control of shipping routes in the region.
