Gold Prices Volatile as Indian Market Closes for Gandhi Jayanti

Gold prices were changing up and down.

On October 2, India’s bullion market was closed for Gandhi Jayanti.

This meant there was no new physical-market trading that day.

Before the holiday, gold in Delhi cost Rs 1,49,800 per 10 grams, including taxes.

Gold futures are contracts that track the expected price of gold.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, 24-carat gold futures fell slightly.

They dropped by Rs 142 to Rs 1,47,724 per 10 grams.

Investors were watching gold markets in India and around the world.
