China Delays Chang’e-7 Moon Water Search, Possibly Until 2027

China planned to send a robot called Chang’e-7 to the Moon’s south pole.

The robot would look for frozen water inside very dark craters.

China postponed the launch because the mission was not considered ready for its planned launch window.

One report said bad weather may have caused the delay.

Another report said officials did not explain the exact problem.

China has not announced a new launch date.

Some reports suggest the mission could launch in September, while others say it may not launch until 2027.

The mission is part of China’s plan to develop Moon-exploration technology and eventually send astronauts there.

The United States is also working on lunar missions, and scientists are interested in Moon water because it could help future exploration.
