6.7 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Japan, Tsunami Advisory Issued

A big earthquake happened off the coast of northern Japan on Friday, December 12, 2025.

It was measured at 6.7 on the Richter scale.

The weather office said that waves from a possible tsunami could be up to one meter high and reach the northern Pacific coast.

This earthquake happened just a few days after a bigger one, which was 7.5 on the Richter scale, injured at least 50 people.

The weather office also said that another big earthquake could happen in the same area within a week.

Japan is a country that has many earthquakes because it sits on top of four big pieces of the Earth's crust that move around.

The government has warned that a very big earthquake and tsunami could cause a lot of damage and even kill many people.

There are no signs that the nuclear power plants in the area are having any problems.
