Mumbai BMC to Boost Pumps, Fight Flooding
Mumbai's government is working to stop flooding during heavy rains.
They plan to make the pumps at Hind Mata junction stronger to get rid of water faster.
The pumps currently can move a lot of water, but not enough when it rains really hard.
They're also thinking about making the drains wider to help water flow away better.
This is because rain patterns have changed, and more rain falls quickly now, leading to flooding in certain areas.
BMC plans to increase pump capacity at Hind Mata junction.
The decision follows flooding in Mumbai due to heavy rainfall.
The current pumps can handle 3,000 cubic meters of water per hour.
BMC is also considering widening drains in several areas.
The goal is to improve water drainage during heavy rainfall events.
