BJYM support march turns tense; Kerala police use water cannons

BJYM support march turns tense; Kerala police use water cannons

Some people in Kerala are waiting for government jobs.

They passed a tough test and got a rank on a list of approved candidates.

They say the government is making them wait too long and not following fair rules.

To show how serious they are, they stopped eating food — this is called a hunger strike.

A youth group from a political party, called the BJYM, held a big march to support them.

The march happened near the Kerala government's main office in Thiruvananthapuram.

When marchers tried to cross a barrier, the police sprayed them with water cannons.

A leader said the government has not even talked to the strikers for 30 days.

Similar marches also took place in other Kerala cities to show support.
