YouTube Revamps Public View Counts Starting August 24
YouTube is changing when it counts someone as having viewed a video.
Starting August 24, a view will count as soon as the video starts playing.
This will happen worldwide and for every type of YouTube video.
YouTube previously used different counting systems for different formats.
The new system will make regular videos count more like Shorts.
Creators may see their public view numbers rise faster.
They will still be able to see “Engaged views” in YouTube Analytics.
