Sanjay Takale Retires from Dakar Rally
Sanjay Takale, a 57-year-old Indian rally driver, had to stop competing in the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia.
He was driving with his teammate Maxime Raud from France.
They had to quit because their car's engine broke down after the third stage of the race.
Sanjay was leading his class in the race, which is a big deal.
He said it was sad to end the race this way, but sometimes the race tests the car more than the driver.
The Dakar Rally is a very tough race that goes through different kinds of terrain like sand dunes and rocks.
It lasts for two weeks and will finish on January 17.
Sanjay Takale, 57, retired from the Dakar Rally due to an engine failure after Stage 3.
Takale was leading the H3 class in the Dakar Classic category at the time of retirement.
He had performed exceptionally well, topping the Prologue and maintaining class leadership through the first three stages.
The retirement reshapes the H3 class contest, shifting focus to remaining contenders.
The Dakar Rally, one of the world's most demanding motorsport events, concludes on January 17, 2026.
