Chhattisgarh: 66 Naxalites Surrender Across Five Districts
In Chhattisgarh, 66 Naxalites, or rebels, gave up their weapons.
Many were wanted by the police and had rewards for their capture.
They decided to surrender because they were unhappy with the rebel group's ideas and how they treated people, plus there were issues within the group.
The surrenders happened in five different areas.
The government is helping them by giving them money and helping them start new lives.
Some of the rebels had been in important positions in the group.
66 Naxalites surrendered in five districts of Chhattisgarh's Bastar division.
The surrendered Naxalites included 27 women and 49 carrying a combined reward of Rs 2.27 crore.
Naxalites cited disillusionment with Maoist ideology, atrocities on tribals, and internal issues as reasons for surrender.
Surrenders occurred in Bijapur, Dantewada, Kanker, Narayanpur, and Sukma districts.
The surrendered Naxalites will receive assistance and be rehabilitated according to government policy.
