Sewri-Worli connector delayed to early 2027
The Sewri-Worli connector and the reconstructed Elphinstone bridge in Mumbai are going to be delayed.
The new deadline is early 2027 instead of September 2026.
The delay is because of many things like taking longer to dismantle the old bridge, unexpected work, complaints from residents, not enough workers, and the rainy season.
The bridge is 132 meters long and needs 90 days to assemble and one week to slide into place.
The MMRDA and J Kumar are working on it, but there are also complaints about pollution, blocked footpaths, and buildings shaking.
They are trying to fix all these problems and get more workers.
The Sewri-Worli connector and Elphinstone bridge reconstruction will miss the September 2026 deadline.
The new deadline is early 2027 due to various delays and challenges.
The 112-year-old Elphinstone bridge was shut on September 12, 2025, for replacement.
The bridge girder is 132 meters long and will take 90 days to assemble and one week to slide into place.
Residents have complained about air pollution, footpath occupation, and building vibrations.
