Trump Aide Investigates H-1B Hiring Discrimination Claims
Harmeet Dhillon, a Trump-appointed official, is looking into a report that some IT companies in the US are only hiring people with H-1B visas and not American citizens.
A former state delegate, Derrick Evans, shared a report that said one company, LanceSoft, posted a job that was only for H-1B visa holders and not for US citizens or green card holders.
Dhillon said her team is working on such cases and will look into this one.
She also mentioned that her division is hiring lawyers to do more of this work.
The Chair of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Andrea Lucas, also spoke about the issue, saying that many recruiters prefer visa holders over Americans.
She said the Trump administration is now focusing on this discrimination.
Harmeet Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, is investigating an IT firm for allegedly discriminating against American workers by hiring only H-1B visa holders.
LanceSoft, an IT staffing firm, posted a job advertisement that explicitly stated the role was only for H-1B visa holders and not for US citizens or green card holders.
Derrick Evans, a former state delegate, brought attention to the issue by sharing a report from The Washington Free Beacon.
Dhillon reassured that her team is working on such cases and will look into this one, collaborating with the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (USEEOC), the Department of Labor (USDOL), and the White House.
Andrea Lucas, Chair of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, also addressed the matter, stating that the Trump administration is focusing on addressing this type of discrimination.
