Writers Fear AI Accusations More Than Blank Pages
Writers used to worry mostly about not knowing what to write.
That problem is called writer’s block.
Now some writers have a different worry after finishing their work.
They fear people will think a computer wrote it.
This can happen even when the writing is very good.
It can also happen after the writing wins an award or other recognition.
The writer may be unable to prove that they wrote every sentence.
This makes the new fear difficult to solve.
Writers increasingly fear being accused of using AI after completing their work.
The anxiety can arise even when a piece is considered good or has won recognition.
The concern differs from traditional writer’s block, which occurs before writing begins.
Readers may suspect that a writer’s strongest sentence was produced by a machine.
Writers may have no reliable way to prove they wrote the work themselves.
