Houthis Attack Southern Saudi Cities for Second Straight Day
On Sept.
9, the Houthis attacked three cities in southern Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi-led coalition said missiles and drones were used.
The coalition said the attacks were aimed at Saudi national assets and infrastructure.
One day earlier, attacks wounded 73 people and damaged oil facilities.
Saudi Arabia said it would take action to protect people and important sites.
The fighting is part of a long conflict involving the Houthis and Saudi-backed forces in Yemen.
The Houthis say their attacks are a response to Saudi actions in Yemen.
The two sides gave different accounts of casualties and responsibility for some strikes.
The Houthis attacked Abha, Khamis Mushait and Jazan with ballistic missiles and drones on Sept. 9, according to the Saudi-led coalition.
The attacks came one day after strikes in southern Saudi Arabia wounded 73 people and set oil installations ablaze.
The coalition said it would respond responsibly to protect Saudi sovereignty, infrastructure and civilians.
The escalation follows months of renewed fighting after a 2022 United Nations-brokered truce largely halted the conflict.
The Houthis said their attacks respond to Saudi escalation, while their health ministry reported 32 deaths from alleged Saudi strikes in Yemen.
