Haryana DGP Advocates Citizen-Friendly Policing, Specialization, and Addressing Nightlife Concerns
The top police officer in Haryana, DGP O P Singh, told his police officers to be nicer to people they talk to, especially when giving tickets or checking things.
He said that sometimes it takes too long to write down reports, and they need more police officers who are experts in difficult money crimes.
He also mentioned that some people make up fake complaints to get others in trouble, and police should not bother people too much with checking their cars if they have the basic documents.
The DGP also said that people going out at night to clubs and restaurants is normal, and police should work with these places to make sure people don't drink and drive.
They can do this by encouraging people to take cabs or have a friend who doesn't drink drive them home.
Lastly, he pointed out that a specific car, the Mahindra Thar, has been involved in many accidents and stunts.
Haryana DGP O P Singh urged police to be citizen-friendly, particularly with alleged traffic violators.
DGP Singh highlighted the need for specialized officers to handle complex economic offenses and acknowledged delays in FIR filing.
He addressed the issue of false complaints, estimating that 20% are fabricated due to personal disputes.
Regarding nightlife, the DGP stressed coordinating with establishments to prevent drunken driving through cab services or designated drivers.
Concerns were raised about accidents and stunts involving Mahindra Thar vehicles.
