BBVA Still Pursuing Sabadell Takeover Amid TSB Sale
BBVA, a big Spanish bank, is still trying to buy Banco Sabadell, another bank.
Even though Sabadell is selling its UK branch, TSB, BBVA isn't backing down.
Sabadell's shareholders agreed to sell TSB to Banco Santander, which means they'll get extra money.
BBVA's offer values Sabadell at a lot of money.
If the deal goes through, it would create a very large bank in Spain.
BBVA made an offer last year, but the government wasn't sure if it should be done.
The offer should start sometime in September.
BBVA will proceed with its takeover bid for Banco Sabadell.
Sabadell shareholders supported the sale of TSB to Banco Santander SA.
The TSB sale will result in an extraordinary dividend of approximately €2.5 billion.
BBVA's offer values Sabadell at around €16.6 billion.
The takeover bid's acceptance period is expected to begin in early September.
