Bombay High Court Rebukes Sena Corporator for Assaulting Doctors
A man named Ramesh Mhatre, who is a member of the Shiv Sena party, got into trouble for hitting some doctors and other people at a hospital.
He did this because a family said the hospital wouldn't take their newborn baby.
The court first let him go, but then changed its mind and said he had to stay in jail for a while longer.
The court was surprised that the doctors survived the attack.
Mhatre said he didn't hit the woman, but the court didn't believe him.
The court also said that Mhatre should be helping people, not hurting them.
Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre assaulted two doctors and other hospital staff in Dombivli, Maharashtra.
The Bombay High Court rebuked Mhatre and refused to lift a stay on his bail, which was earlier granted by a sessions court.
The court noted it was 'surprising' that the doctors survived the assault.
Mhatre's defense argued his age and health, but the court questioned his behavior in the assault video.
Mhatre surrendered to police after the high court cancelled his bail and was sent to judicial custody till August 3.
