Asaram's Bail Challenged by Victim's Father
A girl was raped when she was 16 years old by a man named Asaram Bapu.
He was sent to jail for life.
But recently, the courts said he could leave jail for a while because he was sick.
Now, the girl's father is scared because he thinks Asaram is not really sick and is threatening them.
He went to the highest court in India, the Supreme Court, to ask that Asaram's bail be canceled.
Asaram's lawyer says he is sick and needs special treatment that he can't get in jail.
The girl's father says Asaram is not sick and is making his family feel unsafe.
The father of a minor rape victim has approached the Supreme Court to cancel Asaram Bapu's bail, which was granted on medical grounds by the Rajasthan and Gujarat High Courts.
The victim's father claims that Asaram is not seriously ill and has been conducting religious gatherings, instigating his followers against the family.
Asaram's lawyer argues that he has a heart-related condition and requires medical treatment not available in jail.
Asaram was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018 for raping a minor and has also been convicted in a 2023 rape case.
The Supreme Court is currently hearing the victim's father's plea for the cancellation of Asaram's bail.
