Election Officials Begin Preparations for Five 2027 Assembly Polls
Election officials are starting visits to check how five states are preparing for their 2027 Assembly elections.
They will visit Goa first and Uttarakhand next.
Punjab and Manipur are planned for later visits, while Uttar Pradesh’s date is not yet set.
Officials also check voting machines and paper trail machines before elections.
Engineers test the machines for problems, and political party representatives watch a practice poll.
Machines that pass the checks are marked and sealed.
These steps help prepare the equipment for later parts of election planning.
Deputy election commissioners will begin field-level poll-preparation visits in Goa this week and Uttarakhand next week.
Punjab and Manipur are scheduled for visits in subsequent weeks; Uttar Pradesh’s visit date is not finalised.
The five states due to hold Assembly elections in 2027 are Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand.
Uttar Pradesh and Goa have begun first-level checks of electronic voting machines and paper trail units.
The checks include equipment diagnostics and mock polls; units that pass are marked “FLC OK” and sealed.
