Navi Mumbai Launches Plastic Recycling Drive for Zero Landfill
Navi Mumbai is trying to get rid of plastic waste!
They've teamed up with Project Mumbai to start a plastic recycling drive.
The goal is to stop plastic from going into landfills.
People from schools, homes, and offices are helping out by collecting plastic.
So far, they've collected a lot of plastic, about 141 kilograms.
The plastic will be recycled into new things for public places.
Because it went so well, they will keep collecting plastic and old electronics every week.
If you live there, you can join by bringing your clean, dry plastic to the city's waste department.
Navi Mumbai launched a plastic recycling initiative to achieve a zero plastic landfill city goal.
The initiative, themed “Every Household – Plastic Free”, was launched under the Independence Day campaign “Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhata”.
The drive saw strong participation from schools, housing societies, offices, and various institutions.
141 kg of plastic waste was collected and diverted from landfills.
Weekly plastic and e-waste collection drives will continue.
