Teltumbde Recounts Prison Hardships in 'The Cell and the Soul'

Anand Teltumbde, a writer and activist, wrote a book called 'The Cell and the Soul' about his time in prison.

He spent over two years in Taloja jail because he was accused of having connections to a group called Maoists and causing trouble between different castes.

Teltumbde says he did nothing wrong.

In his book, he talks about how difficult life was in jail.

He mentions there weren't enough basic things like mosquito nets and medicine, even for people who were sick.

He also points out that sometimes people wait for a very long time to have their trial, and families have trouble visiting.

Sadly, he also writes about other prisoners who suffered a lot, with one even dying by suicide and another, Stan Swamy, dying in custody.

Teltumbde believes the prison system isn't working well to help people and needs many improvements.
