Maruti Suzuki Commissions 300 kW Green Hydrogen Plant at Manesar
Maruti Suzuki has started a pilot plant that makes green hydrogen at its Manesar factory.
The plant is rated at 300 kW.
It uses solar electricity made during holidays, when some of that power might otherwise go unused.
An electrolyser uses this electricity to produce hydrogen.
The hydrogen is stored and mixed with natural gas for use in manufacturing.
Maruti will study the project before expanding green hydrogen technology in Haryana and Gujarat.
The company is also developing biogas, compressed biogas, solar power and battery-storage projects.
It wants to reduce its manufacturing carbon footprint by FY2030-31.
Maruti Suzuki India commissioned a 300 kW pilot green hydrogen electrolyser plant at its Manesar facility.
Solar power generated during holidays will operate the electrolyser instead of remaining unused.
The hydrogen will be stored and blended with natural gas for use as manufacturing process fuel.
Maruti plans to expand green hydrogen adoption across facilities in Haryana and Gujarat after studying the pilot.
The company aims to reduce manufacturing emissions from 615,000 tonnes to 266,000 tonnes by FY2030-31.
